A community is much more than an assembly of buildings, parks and roads. It is more about who is in and about these structures that creates the essence of what we treasure as our sense of community. People who care about others, our neighbours, our community. People who take the time to make a positive difference. Our strength is our sense of community. Our strength is our people. Paige Dayal is one of these people.
Not long ago, we heard an incredible story about a remarkable Newmarket High School Student, Paige Dayal, who made the news because of her care and concern for a young man who was contemplating suicide… and her determination to follow up on her concern about a message she read on the web.
It involved tracking down the location of the person who had posted a disturbing message on the internet and included a direct contact with the Central Police Station in Bath England who were able to respond in time to intervene and save this young man’s life.
It would have been easy to not do anything…, but Paige persevered – and made a difference – a big difference in the life of this distraught person.
Congratulations – thank you – what you did is a great example of what we stand for as a community.
Caring about others and making a difference… In this case, a very real and significant difference.
THANK YOU from the residents of the Town of Newmarket and Town Council – you make us proud!
