About Tony Van Bynen
Committed to Newmarket
Tony Van Bynen completed three very productive years as a Newmarket Town Councillor before winning his seat in 2003 as Newmarket Regional Councillor and subsequently being elected mayor in 2006.
As a businessman with more than 30 years experience at all levels of a multinational financial corporation, Tony knows the value of setting corporate goals and achieving them. He made commitments to Newmarket's electors and achieved them. Tony is the voice of fiscal prudence and good management on your municipal board of directors.
Tony is committed to helping businesses grow and to bringing new businesses to Newmarket. A former president of the Chamber of Commerce, he has been the driving force behind the successful Newmarket Downtown Development Committee. The 10-year revitalization of the downtown heart of the community has been so successful in drawing new investment into the area that its principles are being applied town-wide through an economic development board.
Tony knows Newmarket must remain vital, dynamic and growing in the years after it exhausts its supply of vacant land. He is looking for new opportunities for business growth beyond land development.
Tony Van Bynen is married to Roxanne, a teacher with the York Region District School Board and they have two married daughters. He and Roxanne are active in our community outside politics through their church, and as participants in a number of community organizations and charitable fund-raising campaigns.
