Building a Sustainable Future

We are at an important crossroad for Newmarket. The world around us is changing and how we respond will determine the future we leave for our children & grandchildren.

As a community, we have accomplished a lot over the past four years.

We have completed construction of the Magna Centre,   opened a new world class Cancer Treatment Centre, and established Canada’s first “Leed’s Platinum” Ecologic Subdivision.

We are building a new community park in the downtown area, and we started the restoration of our Old Town Hall.

This year, we started construction on Davis Drive to help fix decades of gridlock, and we started the process to build York Region’s first shelter for homeless women right here in Newmarket.

As well, we fought and won an important decision to protect the Oak Ridges Moraine from development.

We have built partnerships to work together for a better community:

·       With the Chamber of Commerce on Smart Commute to help save the environment and reduce congestion;

·       We have established a Health Sciences Commission, to bring a medical university to Newmarket and;

·       Our first economic development plan was created by a partnership of community and business leaders.

As a Community, we need a medical university at Southlake, so more doctors train and stay right here in Newmarket when they graduate and we need to see that the Road Improvements on Davis Drive & Yonge Street are completed.

You deserve:

·       To receive fair value for your municipal tax dollar;

·       To live in a community that is open and responsive to the needs of its less fortunate;

·       A municipal council that recognizes the need for more home grown jobs;

·       A municipal council that leads the transformation of our community to build a sustainable future for your children & grandchildren.
