After moving to Newmarket as bank branch manager in 1980, Tony quickly became active in the community and has remained so throughout the years. He became a founding director in revitalizing the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce and was later elected President in 1983. Through the Chamber of Commerce he produced the educational television series Chamber on Location in partnership with Rogers Cable, highlighting successful Newmarket entrepreneurs.

Tony also joined the Main Street Revitalization Committee and subsequently led the development of the Community Improvement Plan and the Newmarket Downtown Development Committee. He was the founding President of the Newmarket Ratepayers Association, as well as a member of the Newmarket Seniors Meeting Place Advisory Board.

Volunteerism

Today Tony and his wife Roxanne are active volunteers for Inn From the Cold and they continue to be actively involved with the Persechini Easter Seal Run/Walkathon. Roxanne also volunteers for Victim Services, as well as co-ordinating the Rainbows children’s peer group discussion program for Trinity United Church.
