How This Site Works

This site is a community service designed to help people better understand topics directly concerning the community of Newmarket. Basically, this comes in form of a "moderated community blog", where we post issues of concern to the community of Newmarket and allow residents to contribute in the form of issue rating, comments and suggested topics of interest.

Here's how the system works;

1) Topics are presented to the site through this request form.
2) We provide individuals with detailed information about the issue. We monitor these issues so that all issues are clear and directed specifically to the community of Newmarket.
3) Newmarket residents can log in and comment on these topics.

There are two types of users of this system with various levels of input;

a) Anonymous Citizens of Newmarket - We use a proprietary system to identify your physical location. This system is limited by technical realities on the Internet, and we apologize in advance if your ISP has not correctly geographically coded your connection information. Those who have been identified as Newmarket residents may rate information as "Anonymous Citizens". Anonymous Citizens can rate issues, but cannot comment.

b) Active Users - We would ask you to log in and tell us more about yourself. Once you have done so, an email will be sent to your email address asking you to confirm. Once you have confirmed your email address, you may post responses to issues and rate issues, as well as communicate easily directly with the Mayor.

This is not an open system, but moderated to make sure a) inappropriate content is not posted and b) duplicate content is not posted. We want this system to provide meaningful feedback to the community of Newmarket. It is not a free-for-all blog.

Obviously, the information you will see on this site will have a tendency to be somewhat one-sided, as it is administrated by individuals working for Tony. However, we pledge to maintain a reasonable, open-minded and impartial viewpoint as best as we can to make sure Newmarket is being heard.
