Additional King Charles III Coronation Medal Recipients

It was an absolute honour to celebrate and recognize the enormous contribution made by seven individuals to our community, and to present them with the King Charles III Coronation Medal. The list of those recognized is impressive; the impact on our communities is immeasurable; and our thanks for all that you do is given with pride and hope. I am proud to be a member of such a wonderful place to work and live and hope of a future driven by kindness and opportunity for all.

The seven exceptional recipients, in no particular order, are:

Former publisher and vice-president of York Region Media Group, Ian Proudfoot has demonstrated excellent dedication to his community through his service to many community organizations like United Way, Southlake Regional Health Centre, Sharon Temple, and more.
Barb Wallace has gone to great lengths to improve the lives of children and youth to ensure that they live their full potential through her work at many not-for-profits including the Learning Disabilities Association of Peel Region, Girls Inc. of York Region, and the Best Start Health Coalition in Peel.
Una Wright, founder of YouthSpeak, has created a strong, inclusive community that shares a message of strength and hope, and empowers others live resilient and meaningful lives. Since 2003, YouthSpeak has reached over 400,000 students.
Steve Hinder’s continuous service, mostly volunteer, to his community, the citizens of Ontario and Canadians who are the benefactors of his tireless efforts has simply been quite remarkable. He has helped organizations like Southlake Hospital, Victims Services, York Region Safety Village, and many more.
As President of Vince’s Market, Giancarlo Trimarchi’s hands-on approach to community support, sustainable business practices, and food rescue initiatives demonstrates his dedication to making a positive impact beyond the business realm.
Having volunteered with the Newmarket Historical Society since 2016, Douglas Scott has much of his time sharing his knowledge and educating thousands of Canadians about the important history of our nation, especially surrounding World War I.
Debora Kelly has made a lasting positive impact through her work at Belinda’s Place, CHATS, United Way, and more, and has a deep affiliation to charities that support and bring hope and dignity to those who are in crisis.

To all recipients: I hope you will wear your medal with pride. For your kindness, your compassion, your energy, and your love – thank you.
