Canadians are very concerned about affordability, and so is our government. We share commitments to the climate and our environment, and the impacts these have on our health and economy.
In most provinces, there is already a price on pollution. On July 1, the price of fossil fuels is going up, but under the federal pollution pricing system Canadians get the money returned to their bank account ahead of time.
Households in all provinces and territories under the federal pricing system will get a rebate payment, covering a full three months’ worth of fuel charges.
Today in Ontario, a family of four will receive $244 through the pollution price rebate. Our price on pollution is one of the best ways to fight climate change and keep our air clean, while making life more affordable. Eight out of ten households get more money back than they pay in, with low- and middle-income households benefiting the most.
We will continue to fight climate change and make life more affordable for Canadian families.
