This week, people in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta received the first of their new quarterly Climate Action Incentive payments. This is how we return the proceeds of pollution pricing directly to families – fighting climate change and making life more affordable.
When it comes to pollution pricing, the majority of households – 8 out of 10 – already receive more in Climate Action Incentive payments than they pay. This has been confirmed through independent analysis by the Parliamentary Budget Officer.
Additionally, residents in small and rural communities are also eligible for an extra 10% on top of the standard amount. By moving to quarterly Climate Action Incentive payments, instead of the previous system with one payment a year, households will now get cheques every 3 months.
Our government is focused on moving forward, by fighting climate change and making life more affordable.
