The personal, social and economic impacts of COVID-19 on the mental health and well-being of Canadians is unprecedented and many are already calling it the second pandemic. However, a vaccine will not provide us with the cure for this pandemic.
We have an opportunity now to pro-actively develop and enhance programs and resources to adequately address this growing mental health pandemic and provide Canadians with the help they need.
This Friday, at the first meeting of the Standing Committee on Health (HESA), I intend to move a motion to study the impacts of COVID-19 on the mental health and well-being of Canadians. I hope to receive the support from all of my HESA colleagues to move forward with this very important study.Continue reading
