MP Tony Van Bynen, Member of Parliament for Newmarket-Aurora, is currently looking for young residents of the riding to join the Newmarket-Aurora MP’s Youth Council.
The Youth Council provides an opportunity for young people in the riding aged 15-25 to learn about Canada’s political process, discuss viewpoints on issues, and get involved in the community. Council members will have the chance to build on these discussions and embark on projects that will positively impact Newmarket-Aurora.
Last year, the Youth Council discussed important issues such as climate change and student housing, had the opportunity to meet the Hon. Marci Ien, Minister of Women, Gender Equality, and Youth, and provided feedback to the government on the 2024 Federal Budget and the new Youth Mental Health Fund. We are looking forward to more exciting opportunities for our Youth Council members over the next 12 months.
The Youth Council is non-partisan in nature and will provide young residents of Newmarket-Aurora with the opportunity to engage with federal politics and democracy. The Youth Council will meet on a monthly basis, alternating between virtual and in-person meetings with MP Van Bynen and members of his team.
