What is the Constituency Youth Council?

The Constituency Youth Council is an opportunity for youth to learn about Canada’s political process, discuss their viewpoints on issues, and most importantly, get involved in their communities.
Projects undertaken by past Constituency Youth Councils have ranged from food drives to multimedia projects. Furthermore, past councils have discussed the importance of issues involving climate change, gender equality, and youth employment.
This year’s council will have the chance to build on these discussions and embark on projects that will positively impact our community.

When does the program take place?

This community volunteer opportunity runs from September to June. Meetings will take place once a month.
To protect the health and safety of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic, meetings will take place via Zoom.

How can I apply?

The Newmarket-Aurora Youth Council is now open for applications and will include youth from different schools, neighbourhoods and local associations.
The deadline to apply is Friday, September 18, 2020 11:59 pm. You can apply using this link.

Why is this program important?

Giving youth a voice is vital to our government. A youth perspective brings a new light to issues touching our community and our country. The CYC in Newmarket-Aurora will work hard to be the youth voice for our community, and as your Member of Parliament, I intend to bring this perspective with me to Ottawa.
