Helping more Canadians save on energy bills

Home energy improvements like heat pump installation and drafty window replacements can help Canadians save hundreds of dollars on their energy bills every year.

Since we’ve launched the Canada Greener Homes Grant program, we’ve helped over 165,000 Canadians upgrade their homes and save an average of $386 per year on their energy bills.

To continue building on the program’s success and in response to evolving needs, we’re launching a new phase of Greener Homes that will provide more accessible support to low-to-median income Canadians, so that cost-savings are available to those who need them most.

As we prepare to transition to the next phase of Greener Homes, new applications will not be accepted. Canadians who have already applied can be assured that their applications will be processed and that required energy evaluations will continue as planned.

This next phase will complement the suite of initiatives available to Canadians to upgrade their homes and reduce their bills, including:

  • the Canada Greener Homes Loan, which continues to provide interest-free loans of up to $40,000 to Canadians of all income levels to undertake home energy improvements.
  • The Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program, which provides grants of up to $10,000 to low-to-median-income oil heated households across Canada who want to make the switch to a heat pump.

Regular updates on Canada’s energy and housing affordability programs are available here.
