Joining Minister O’Regan at CHATS in Newmarket

CHATS is an inspirational organization in Newmarket that provides a variety of resources, tools, and programs for seniors and caregivers in our community, like home safety services, meal delivery, and more.

CHATS is also considered a NORC — or a naturally occurring retirement community, which is a community that has a large amount of seniors, but was not specifically designed for seniors.

This past Monday, I was pleased to welcome Seamus O’Regan, the Minister of Labour and Seniors, to Newmarket to visit CHATS. We had the opportunity to meet with residents of the building and learn about how they are utilizing the resources available and how our government can take action to continue supporting seniors in Newmarket-Aurora and across the nation.

We’re committed to supporting the well-being and health of seniors through initiatives like:

  • the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP), which provides funding for organizations across the country that aim to increase the social inclusion of seniors.
  • Old Age Security (OAS), which provides monthly payments to eligible seniors.
  • the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), which is currently accepting applications for eligible seniors to receive dental coverage.
  • Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), a monthly payment for eligible low-income seniors who are OAS pensioners.

I’m proud to support CHATS and the work they do. Thank you to CHATS and Minister O’Regan for a wonderful meeting,

Tony Van Bynen
